Before you begin
- Read the supplied instructions for ignition, flame adjustment and refilling.
- Prepare a clear, level work surface in a ventilated area, away from flammable materials.
- Check that the torch is switched off before setting up the smoker.
- Use the butane fuel specified for your torch. The free torch ships separately from the kit.
Light the wood chips
- Set the wooden disc on a stable glass. Rest the barrel horizontally on the disc and remove its top half.
- Add a small pinch of chips to the metal screen.
- Light the torch as directed in its instructions. Aim the flame at the chips, keeping it away from the wooden rim.
- Move the flame across the chips until they begin to smoulder, then switch the torch off.
- Set the torch down safely and allow the smoke to collect in the glass. Keep your face clear of the well and leave hot chips undisturbed.
Refill the torch
- Switch the torch off and let it cool completely.
- Move to a ventilated area away from ignition sources, including flames and sparks.
- Set the controls and position the torch as specified in its instructions.
- Use the recommended butane and follow the directions for connecting the nozzle to the fill valve. Stop at the specified fill point.
- Allow the stated settling time before lighting. Check for leaks and make sure any spilled fuel has fully dispersed.
After use
- Keep the torch and smoker away from children.
- Let the screen, chips and barrel cool completely before cleaning or storing them.
- Store the torch as directed by its manufacturer, away from heat and direct sunlight.
